Daniela Sampaio, MD, is a psychiatry resident at University of Maryland and Sheppard Pratt doing an immersive elective in the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Program. She completed her medial training in Brazil at the University of Santo Amaro Medical School followed by a psychiatry residency and fellowship at the University of Sao Paulo Institute of Psychiatry. Sampaio chose to participate in another training program in the United States, where she began to learn more about and gain interest in DBT. Her psychiatry elective in the DBT Program will include working with individuals as well as co-leading DBT skills groups. Previous work experience for Sampaio includes outpatient psychotherapy, inpatient psychiatric care, emergency room psychiatry, and participation on an assertive community team (ACT), in addition to a handful of publications and presentations about topics such as eating disorders and addictive behaviors.
