According to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), private, non-profit hospitals, such as Sheppard Pratt, must perform a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) every three years. Through our Community Health Needs Assessment, we evaluated the health needs of individuals living in the service areas of our two hospital campuses in Towson and Ellicott City. From there, we developed a plan and an implementation strategy so we can meet the community health needs identified.

We last conducted a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment in 2016. The Community Health Needs Assessment reports, linked below, present the data we have collected and the key factors impacting the health of the communities we serve.

In addition to completing a Community Health Needs Assessment, we also develop an implementation plan. Our latest implementation plan, developed in 2016, identifies the initiatives we are undertaking in order to improve the health of the communities served by our Towson and Ellicott City hospital campuses. The implementation plan is based on the findings from our CHNAs.
