There is help and hope available for parents of young children; we offer developmental assessments and interventions for very young children so you can get your child the support they need to thrive.

The early years can be particularly challenging for parents and children alike. This early developmental stage brings rapid growth and constant change, often leading to questions about whether something is “just a phase” or an issue to be addressed with a professional.

We work with very young children and their families to provide comprehensive evaluation and intervention to identify and remedy problems early, setting your child and family up for success.

Developmental evaluation

Developmental evaluation encompasses:

  • Cognitive development
  • Social-emotional development
  • Developmental delays
  • Early indicators of learning disorders
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Early indicators of ADHD, executive functioning problems, and behavior disorders

Behavioral interventions

Child diagnostic evaluation

While there are dozens of parenting handbooks at your fingertips, it can be incredibly beneficial to partner with a licensed psychologist to learn effective, personalized interventions that work for your child and family. We partner with you to address:

  • Defiant and willful behaviors
  • Tantrums and emotional dysregulation
  • Separation anxiety and fears
  • Sibling relationships problems
  • Parent-child problems
  • Toileting difficulties and resistance
  • Sleep problems
  • Feeding difficulties and restrictive eating patterns
  • Adjustment to daycare and preschool
  • Adjustment to family changes
  • Early executive functioning and attention concerns

Who developmental evaluations and early interventions can help

We offer developmental evaluations and early intervention for children from birth to 4 years. Our clinicians have particular expertise working with young children and their parents to get answers and intervene early to set your child up for a lifetime of success.

What to expect from our assessments and interventions

Parents attend a one-hour virtual meeting to provide relevant background, presenting concerns, and questions for the evaluation. Then, parents accompany their children to the clinic for a two-hour appointment during which a child psychologist evaluates important areas of development and provides education as part of the process. Parents attend a third appointment (virtual or in-person) after the evaluation during which findings and recommendations are discussed.

Pricing and payment

The hourly fee for therapy at the Center for Youth is $410. This fee is all-inclusive; payment is due at the time services are rendered.

As a private pay program, we do not participate with insurance. We can provide a superbill upon request that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement of out-of-network services.

Frequently asked questions

What is the youngest age you offer services for?

At the Center for Youth, we offer services (developmental evaluations and early interventions) for infants—we begin seeing children when they are just a few months old.

Do you offer services in person or virtually?

Services are available both in person and virtually. The initial parent meeting can be conducted virtually. The child evaluation appointment must be conducted in person. The follow-up meeting with the parents can be held in person or virtually.

Why should I consider these services for my toddler?

Parenting books and online courses usually offer cookie-cutter advice. While a general approach can be effective for neurotypical children, you may find that the approaches you’ve read about haven’t worked for your child. We offer personalized interventions—tailoring our treatment offerings to you and your child, with recommendations grounded in evidence-based approaches.

Are your services covered by insurance?

The Center for Youth is a private pay program, meaning we do not participate in any forms of insurance. However, we can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.
