Recovery and Academic Program (RAP) provides Montgomery County youth with free, comprehensive services to address both their academic needs as well as their substance use struggles. Each participating youth receives a plan that is individualized to their needs. All services are provided by certified teachers.

Services

  • Individualized academic instruction

  • Online instruction available 24/7

  • Homework assistance and tutoring

  • Vocational training and career readiness opportunities

In addition to their academic needs being met, youth have access to the full suite of services available through The Landing, an after-school adolescent recovery clubhouse offered by Sheppard Pratt.

The Landing

The Landing provides a non-judgmental, inclusive, and supportive environment where Montgomery County youth who are recovering from a substance use problem receive a comprehensive array of recovery and support services. Youth have access to dynamic, engaging support throughout the recovery process, and focus on learning how to foster positive relationships, leadership skills, team building opportunities, problem solving skills, responsibility, and confidence.

At The Landing, youth participate in:

  • Relapse prevention and recovery planning

  • Goal planning

  • One-on-one counseling

  • Recreational activities, including outdoor fitness and sports

  • Field trips (all fees included)

  • Fitness classes, arts and crafts, video games, and pool

  • Vocational training and career readiness groups

  • Support groups

  • Monthly family dinners

RAP is made possible through a grant from Governor Larry Hogan’s Opioid Operational Command Center.
