Transition services are experiences, supports, and instruction other than academic courses that will assist a student with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) in achieving his or her post-secondary education goals. Transition services are provided in an IEP through transition planning, which is coordinated between the student, parents, the school system, and outside partners including DDA, DORS, CRPs, and colleges or other post-secondary education training programs. In Maryland, transition planning and the delivery of transition services begins during the IEP year in which the student turns 14 years of age.
