Admissions: Geriatric Neuropsychiatry Unit

Individuals are admitted to our unit through the referral of an emergency room of a general hospital.

Once an individual has been referred from an ER, meets our admissions criteria, and we have a bed available, we will admit them to the unit. Upon arrival to the unit, we will complete a nursing assessment. We will also complete a skin assessment. Many individuals in our care experience skin issues related to age or medical conditions, and we address those issues while they are on the unit. We also complete a safety search to ensure that no contraband items are being brought onto the unit. Finally, we conduct a fall risk assessment so we can take appropriate precautions to keep everyone safe.
