Individuals can be admitted to our unit in a variety of ways:

  • They can be referred through the emergency room of a hospital

  • They can be referred through our Psychiatric Urgent Care

  • They can be directly referred by an outpatient treatment provider

Once an individual has been referred from one of these sources, meets our admissions criteria, and we have a bed available, we will admit them to the unit. Upon arrival to the unit, we will complete a nursing assessment. We also complete a safety search to ensure that no contraband items are being brought onto the unit. This is to ensure safety, and is part of our standard hospital admission protocol.

After the intake process, we ensure that each individual we treat is fully comfortable with their surroundings. Staff will help new patients acclimate to their new environment and review the guidelines and expectations for the unit. We also have a helpful handout for families that gives an overview of the structure of the program; this is provided during admissions.
