Volunteer/Internship Information

Our volunteers and interns are vital and dedicated members of the Sheppard Pratt Health System team, and are provided with an opportunity to work alongside our doctors, nurses, teachers, clinicians, and other professionals.

We offer unpaid volunteer and internship experiences in a variety of areas of the health system, including our inpatient units, our day hospitals, data management, our schools, our gift and resale shops, and clerical support areas. We will work with your interests and availability to find the best placement for you. Candidates must successfully complete a two-stage interview process, orientation to the Health System, tuberculosis testing, and receive a flu vaccination.

HOURS OF OPPORTUNITY:

Support Areas:          

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Clinical Areas:          

Hours available daily, including weekends, 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.                            

Opportunities Available:

Volunteers: We offer unpaid volunteer opportunities to candidates at least 18 years of age, and able to dedicate a minimum of three months and an eight hour per week time commitment , for at least 100 hours of service.

Internships: We offer unpaid internship opportunities to college juniors and seniors for school credit. You must be able to commit to a minimum of three months. Scheduling is based on semester rotations: Fall (September – December), Spring (January – May), and Summer (June – August).
