Q: How long is clinical orientation at Towson? 

A: Clinical orientation is a mandatory 7-day program. Plan to be present for your Welcome Day (day one) and the following 6 days (not including weekends). After that, you will go to your assigned unit/program for additional on-the-job training.

Q: What happens on my first day? 

A: Please check directly with your recruiter about orientation, as schedules are fluctuating due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Q: Where do I report on Monday?

A: Please come to Dulaney Center at 849 Fairmount Avenue, Towson, MD 21286. Park in the parking garage next to the building; your ticket will be validated.

Q: What should I bring?

A: Clinical employees (social worker, mental health worker, RNs/LPNs) should bring current BLS American Heart Association (AHA) card on Monday (Day 3). AHA BLS card is required before starting orientation. Please reach out to Clinical Education Department at educationdept@sheppardpratt.org if you need assistance in getting your AHA BLS card before orientation. Sheppard Pratt offers AHA BLS classes, however, you are able to bring an AHA BLS card received from outside of Sheppard Pratt. Any questions please reach out to the Clinical Education Department at educationdept@sheppardpratt.org or call 410-938-3510. We will provide you with a pen and paper. Bring a sweater or jacket in case the room is cool. 

Q: What should I wear?

A: The dress code is business casual; jeans are not permitted. Heels and dress shoes are not suggested. Scrubs or khakis and a plain t-shirt (no bands, logos etc) are also acceptable attire. 

Q: Where do I go on Friday (Day 2)?

A: Clinical employees will complete online learning modules remotely. Directions will be given on Thursday (Day 1) of orientation. 

Q: What does Monday - Friday (Day 3-7) look like?

A: Monday-Thursday (Day 3-6) will be hospital orientation (not on the unit) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Friday (Day 7) will be a mix of on the unit and attending computer/documentation training. Please be available 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. More details will be provided on Monday (Day 3) of orientation.
