The Forbush School at Anne Arundel is an 11-month special education, certificate program, located in Ruth Parker Eason Special Education Center, in Millersville, Maryland. We provide educational services to students ages five to 21 with autism spectrum disorder, pervasive developmental disorder, and other related disorders.

Once enrolled, our team will review a child or adolescent’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), and modify our instructional areas to fit the student’s needs to ensure maximum growth. These instructional areas can include communication skills, self-care, individualized academics, fine and gross motor sills, socialization skills, recreational, and vocational skills. With a student to staff ratio of two to one, children enrolled in our school have the opportunity to engage in special programming with Anne Arundel County Public School students, including art, music, physical education, cooking, and aquatics. We also integrate our students into the community, providing the opportunity to participate in off-site job training and in-house prevocational skill development.  ForbushAA_May2014_0001.jpg

We implement the Anne Arundel County Public School approved Unique Curriculum based on the Common Core Standards, and the Syracuse Community-Referenced Curriculum Guide.  Our students participate in Alternative Assessments and pursue a Certificate of Program Completion. We also use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques for instructional and behavioral management program development to help them transition into the community and lead successful lives.

As part of Sheppard Pratt Health System, our dedicated staff has access to the best training, treatment practices, and technology. We actively collaborate with other Health System schools and professionals to ensure a top-notch program in which our students are achieving their academic, social, and emotional goals.
