Day hospital, also called a ‘partial hospitalization program’, provides mental health treatment in a group setting Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Our patients go home each afternoon. On average, people participate in our program for 2 – 3 weeks.

Our day hospitals treat both adults and children/adolescents (aged 10-17). Our child/adolescent day hospitals are designed with age-appropriate programming and support.

Each Sheppard Pratt Day Hospital patient is supported by a team of highly experienced, compassionate mental health professionals. Sheppard Pratt has a network of hundreds of mental health professionals and 160+ mental health related programs so we can seamlessly support each of our patients along their unique mental health journey.
What kind of treatment do you provide?
Every day, patients participate in six and a half hours of therapeutic programming. We use a group therapy model and offer:
- Group treatment
- Supportive counseling
- Medication and symptom management as needed
- Treatment planning
- Family meetings

Sheppard Pratt offers day hospital programs for adults and children/adolescents at both our Towson, MD campus and our Baltimore/Washington Campus in Elkridge, MD.
