The Retreat does not participate with any health insurance; however, we have a working relationship with SJ Health Insurance Advocates, a third-party billing and utilization management company, that assists our residents and families with how to gain possible reimbursement using the resident’s out-of-network insurance benefits. We encourage you to contact SJ Health Insurance Advocates for their advice.

The current rate at The Retreat, Sheppard Pratt's self-pay residential program, is $66,000 for an all-inclusive 20-day (minimum) stay. The fee at The Retreat includes:

  • Doctors’ fees

  • Consultations

  • A 4:1 staff-to-resident ratio

  • Medications

  • 24/7 nursing care

  • 35 hours a week of therapeutic programming, which can include dialectical behavior therapy, equine therapy, art therapy, yoga, and more

  • Private suite with bathroom

  • Well-balanced meals

  • Therapeutic off-site outings

We accept payment for the first 20 days of your stay upon your arrival. The daily rate of $3,300 remains the same throughout treatment.

What Is Self-Pay Care?

Self-pay care is treatment that residents and their families pay for. Private rehab, like The Retreat, isn’t covered by health insurance plans.

We understand that a stay at The Retreat is a significant investment. However, we believe private mental health rehab comes with many advantages.

Often, insurance companies do not consider your individual circumstances when making decisions about the length or breadth of treatment you can receive. A self-pay program prevents limitations of service. All care decisions are made in consultation with the resident and their loved ones, not with an insurance company.
