Programming at the Parent Resource Center

Adult Educational Classes

The Ed Bohrer Parent Resource Center offers a variety of adult educational classes designed to help individuals improve their lives and expand their opportunities. Additionally, the PRC helps connect individuals with services and resources available, providing referrals and detailed information. We offer services in both English and Spanish, and assure that everyone in need of assistance can receive it in a meaningful manner. The welcoming and knowledgeable staff and volunteers at the PRC strive to make it easy to receive the help that people deserve and need.  

Educational classes offered at the PRC include:

• Basic language literacy classes in English and Spanish
• Adult education ESOL classes through Montgomery College
• GED classes
• Citizenship and immigration workshops
• Basic computer classes
• Financial literacy and empowerment
• Job readiness training
• Parenting classes

Free child care is offered during most adult education classes.

Additional Services

Other services provided include:

• Advocacy for parents and individuals 
• English to Spanish translation; help for communicating with the school system
• Assistance accessing community resources such as food, clothing, medical, dental, mental health, and other resources
• Assistance with accessing legal and immigration resources
• Housing assistance and advocacy
• Notary 

The PRC is welcoming, easily accessible, and conveniently located on the campus of Gaithersburg Elementary School. Our location allows us to collaborate with the school system and understand where help is most needed. In addition, this partnership allows us to support the students at Gaithersburg Elementary, and we provide back-to-school supplies, coats, and holiday gifts for families in need.
