Who to Call for Help with a Crisis

If you are experiencing an emergency, or life threatening situation, and need immediate attention, please call 911 to find the closest hospital emergency room that can provide that assistance.

At Sheppard Pratt Health System, we offer several services for people who have an urgent or critical need to be evaluated by a psychiatrist on an immediate basis. The service location is in the Admissions Suite in the Weinberg Building of Sheppard Pratt Hospital, 6501 North Charles Street, Towson, MD. To access these services, call 410-938-HELP (4357) between 8:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. These services include:

Urgent Assessments

Our Urgent Assessment Service is for people who have a need to be seen on an urgent basis, for a one-time only appointment with a psychiatrist. This is not intended to be an ongoing outpatient care arrangement.

Scheduled Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP)

Our Scheduled Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP) is for people in psychiatric crisis, who are likely to require direct referral to a more intensive level of care.
