Harm reduction operates both as a set of health interventions, and as a social justice movement. This online workshop provides a guided discussion of the philosophy, principles, and practice of harm reduction.

Learning Objectives

After this lecture, registrants will be able to:

  1. Describe the ways that harm reduction can be used to build programs that support and empower people who use drugs (PWUD) and people engaging in sex work (PESW).
  2. Develop tools and strategies to understand different types of harms and how to mitigate these harms based on client needs and desires.
  3. Discuss the importance of using non-stigmatizing, person first language when working with or addressing people who use drugs or engage in sex work.
