Overview

Join us for a Grand Rounds lecture on Climate Change & Mental Health 101. This free lecture will delve into the neuropsychiatric consequences triggered by extreme weather events, heatwaves, air pollution, nutritional deficiencies, and the emergence of vector-borne illnesses.

Attendees will learn about the impact of climate change and mental health, unraveling the complexities of grief, anxiety, anger, and hopelessness that individuals may experience. Also, this lecture will provide a comprehensive understanding of how these emotional challenges can be effectively addressed through psychotherapeutic techniques in both group and individual settings.

Learning Objectives
  1. Discuss the relationship between particulate air pollution, extreme heat, and psychiatric disorders
  2. Define climate change as a threat multiplier for mental health.
  3. Identify three strategies for dealing with emotional overwhelm in response to climate change in the therapeutic setting.
