Discharge Timeline

We begin planning for discharge at the beginning of each adolescent’s stay; our goal is to get your child back into the community as possible, and once they are no longer a danger to themselves or others. We have a dedicated discharge coordinator on our treatment team. They are responsible for building a comprehensive, individualized discharge plan to ensure your child’s mental health needs are met once they are out of the hospital.

Continuing Care

Often, discharge plans may include your child attending the Child and Adolescent Day Hospital at the Sheppard Pratt Towson campus.

For others, we may arrange appointments with a trusted outpatient child and adolescent psychiatrist or therapist who works with your insurance and/or medical assistance. For those who have a current outpatient treatment team, we will work directly with your provider to arrange for a smooth transition back to outpatient care.
