Samuel Scharff, MD, PhD, is a psychiatrist on the adult service line at Sheppard Pratt. Prior to joining Sheppard Pratt, Scharff completed his psychiatry residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He earned his MD and PhD degrees at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where his dissertation was focused on the history of medicolegal psychiatry.

Scharff has extensive teaching experience, and has served as a clinical and classroom instructor for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine on topics including inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, history of medicine, social determinants of health, ethics, and more. He has also designed and taught courses at both the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins University Krieger School of Arts & Sciences.
