The Telepsychiatry Services program uses state-of-the-art videoconferencing equipment to provide outpatient psychiatric services in rural areas of Maryland that are medically underserved or experiencing a shortage of mental health services. Through partnerships with a number of public mental health clinics and Federally Qualified Health Centers, we provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management services to children, adolescents, and adults using the medium of secure videoconferencing.

This program shortens the wait time for patients to receive treatment by providing access to psychiatric evaluations and follow-up care that is not easily attainable in the more rural regions of the state. This program also eliminates the need for patients to utilize emergency rooms, and eliminates the expense and time associated with traveling long distances for treatment.
