Sheppard Pratt Health System Celebrates Grand Opening of New Veterans Services Center

Sheppard Pratt Health System celebrated the grand opening of its new Veterans Services Center in Fell’s Point in Baltimore City today. The Veterans Services Center is a first-of-its-kind facility in the Baltimore metropolitan region and will be a one-stop shop for all of the vital services veterans need.

With an estimated 146,000 veterans in the Baltimore metro region, the new center will help veterans address basic needs including housing, job training, employment, mental health, and substance use. The center also provides support services for families of veterans.

“Every day veterans are facing a fragmented system of care when it comes to accessing and coordinating medical, mental health care, and much needed support services,” said Dr. Harsh K. Trivedi, president and CEO of Sheppard Pratt Health System. “Our new center will provide free assistance to help veterans access critical mental health and addiction services. It will also help veterans find affordable housing and provide them with the necessary skills to secure gainful employment to help change their lives for the better.”

Through relationships with the Department of Veterans Affairs and local housing and shelter organizations, the center helps veterans and their families secure affordable housing and provide time-limited financial assistance to ease the transition.

The Veterans Services Center works with veterans to identify the next steps in their career, shows them how to apply their skills, and provides job training as necessary. It also maintains partnerships with local veteran employers to help veterans find and secure jobs. Case managers help with every aspect of the process from finding jobs, to helping veterans with their resumes, to providing soft skills training for job interviews.

In addition, the new center provides referrals to The State of Maryland American Job Center, health care providers, mental health care providers, legal aid services, bonding services, and more.

All services are provided through Alliance, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Sheppard Pratt Health System.
