Sheppard Pratt Health System Celebrates Expansion of Outpatient Mental Health Clinic

by:

On Friday, September 6, 2019, Sheppard Pratt Health System celebrated the expansion of its outpatient mental health clinic in Timonium, Maryland with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The newly expanded location was renovated and opened for services in April 2019 to provide people in Baltimore County and the metro area with greater access to mental health and substance use resources.

“Sheppard Pratt’s outpatient facilities fill a crucial need in our country for accessible mental health care,” says Jeff Richardson, vice president and chief operating officer of Sheppard Pratt Community Services. “We are proud to expand our Timonium location so that we can reach even more individuals with services that improve their quality of life.”

The newly opened outpatient clinic utilizes telepsychiatry to provide clients with timely access to psychiatrists. In addition to seeing psychiatrists in person, clients are also able to speak with their provider in a private room via state-of-the-art secure video conferencing technology.

The clinic also boasts a laboratory, phlebotomist, and exam rooms to ensure easier access to labs for frequent medication monitoring as well as greater access to primary care services for clients.

Each year, the outpatient behavioral health clinic serves more than 1,500 clients and provides over 10,000 mental health services. Services provided include individual, group and family therapy as well as medication management. Patients are treated for mental health or for co-occurring mental health and addictions problems. Staff include licensed skilled therapists and psychiatric medical providers.

Sheppard Pratt has provided outpatient behavioral health services in Timonium since 1999.
