Sonya Chistov, MD

Sonya Chistov, MD is a psychiatrist at The Retreat by Sheppard Pratt. A graduate of the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt psychiatry residency program, Chistov earned her Doctor of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and her Bachelor of Science from The George Washington University. Her research experience has included roles at The George Washington University Hospital’s Department of Emergency Medicine and The George Washington University’s Department of Biological Sciences. Chistov, a member of the American Psychiatric Association, was awarded the American Psychiatric Association Foundation’s externship in Addiction Psychiatry, and has presented at the American Psychiatric Association’s Annual Meeting on topics including ethics in psychiatric clinical practice and treating borderline personality disorder. She has an interest in psychodynamic psychotherapy and integrative psychiatry.
