For APGFCU, giving back is part of its mission. Rooted in Harford County and serving Cecil and Baltimore counties, along with Baltimore City, the credit union sees community support as a promise to help people build stronger, healthier lives—from financial well-being to overall wellness.
That promise is what led APGFCU to support Sheppard Pratt.
“Financial well-being and personal well-being are deeply connected,” says Breanna Hill, APGFCU’s director of community impact. “Financial stress can weigh heavily on mental health, and for APGFCU, supporting mental health is a critical component of wellness.”
That connection became even more meaningful for Hill through her own family’s experience. After COVID-19 disrupted routines and social connections, one of her daughters struggled with the return to school.
When her family turned to Sheppard Pratt, Hill was met with compassion, clarity, and support. She recalls “Mr. Tony” at Sheppard Pratt’s Baltimore/Washington Campus, whose calm, caring presence helped put her family at ease.
“Every parent should have access to that kind of support,” Hill says.
That experience helped shape how Hill sees APGFCU’s partnership with Sheppard Pratt. For Hill, the partnership is also about what corporate giving can do beyond a check. Companies that participate in Sheppard Pratt’s corporate partners program—like APGFCU—directly enable Sheppard Pratt’s programs while aligning with Maryland’s leader in mental health. Through charitable contributions, sponsorships, financial education, in-kind support, and community engagement, APGFCU is supporting a mission that touches every family.
That is especially true for youth mental health. APGFCU has long supported youth and education, and Hill sees mental health as essential to helping young people grow into confident, well-rounded adults. She is especially inspired by Sheppard Pratt’s plans for a new children’s hospital, which will expand access to specialized mental healthcare.
APGFCU’s support of Sheppard Pratt’s upcoming Imagine gala reflects that shared commitment—and a belief that mental health deserves attention, resources, and action.
“Mental health touches everyone,” Hill says. “It’s important for us to help any way we can.”
At its heart, APGFCU’s support is about community: helping people access the care, confidence, and support they need to move forward. By partnering with Sheppard Pratt, APGFCU is strengthening the foundation for healthier families and brighter futures—close to home.
