Honoring Our Community Caregivers

Spring/Summer

When you think of Sheppard Pratt, you probably think of one of our hospitals–maybe you even think of one of our schools. But Sheppard Pratt offers so much more.

Our programs and teams of caregivers can be found throughout Maryland. From outpatient mental health centers, to in-home and in-school services, to day and residential programs, to job training, Sheppard Pratt team members show up to support the most vulnerable in some of the most unexpected ways. We know that support truly needs to wrap around individuals, lifting them up where they live, work, and play.

So, when we’re honoring our caregivers, it’s so important that we recognize the community-based caregivers, too.

Dr. Jessie Stephen, medical director, Outpatient Mental Health Center in Frederick

When she reflects on why she works at Sheppard Pratt, Dr. Stephen points to the mission-driven culture and the expansive services that not only support the whole individual but also support her ability to provide the best care possible.

At Sheppard Pratt, I can collaborate with so many disciplines that are truly the ‘cogs’ needed to move the wheel forward. It’s so easy to tailor the best treatment for every person because we have access to such a wide variety of specialties, all within Sheppard Pratt.

It’s her patients’ success that keeps her going. “It makes this work so fulfilling. It’s humbling to see that just a little help can lead to great strides,” Dr. Stephen shares.
