Hats Off to the Graduates!

Fall

This summer, Sheppard Pratt Schools celebrated the graduation of 51 high school students. Students at Sheppard Pratt Schools in Lanham, Gaithersburg, Rockville, Hunt Valley, Glyndon, and Cumberland gathered with their educators and families to mark the momentous occasion.

Seven of our graduates will be attending college in the fall; three others will be taking a gap year before attending college the following year.

“This time of year, my heart bursts for our students. Graduating from high school is a major milestone, and celebrating this accomplishment with our students and their families is the highlight of the year,” shares Kathy Flannery, MEd, vice president and chief of schools. “The path to graduation is full of challenges, successes, doubt, persistence, and resilience. Seeing our students earn their diplomas or certificates of completion is my favorite reminder that ‘you get out what you put in.’”

“Attending the school graduations leaves me inspired and recharged. Witnessing the transformation and growth of our students and hearing the story of their journey is incredibly moving and powerful. Many of our students come to us feeling lost and hopeless, and they leave us with their heads held high, ready to take on the next chapters of their lives with confidence and a strong community behind them,” says Claire Cohen, LCSW-C, senior director of schools.
