Melissa H. Nolan, LCSW-C, is a social worker on the young adult inpatient unit at Sheppard Pratt’s Towson campus. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and her master’s degree in social work from the Columbia University in New York City. Melissa also received a second bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Towson University where she graduated with honors. She has been working as a social worker with children, adolescents, and young adults for 31 years, 20 of which were spent as forensic social worker with the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, New York and at the Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore City, Maryland, where she developed and managed the statewide juvenile social work division. In her current position at Sheppard Pratt, Melissa actively participates on the Social Work Practice Committee and the EMR Sub Committee. She has been a field instructor for University of Maryland School of Social Work students, as well as an adjunct professor at University of Maryland School of Social Work and Western Maryland College.
