Joelene Parks, LCSW-C, is a social worker in the child and adolescent day hospital on Sheppard Pratt’s Towson campus, where she has worked for the past eight years. She earned her masters in social work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work, and her bachelors in social work from California University. As a social worker, Joelene has worked with children and adolescents for the past 12 years. She is passionate about working with children who have depression and anxiety, and attended the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy for a weeklong course on treating children and adolescents with depression and anxiety.
Prior to working at Sheppard Pratt, Joelene worked with children and adolescents in the state of Florida. In Florida, Joelene provided individual counseling and suicide risk assessments in juvenile detention centers located in Hillsborough and Polk Counties. Joelene also provided outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. Prior to working with children and adolescents, Joelene spent three years providing community-based mental health to adults who had chronic and severe mental illness in Washington, DC.
