The Co-Occurring Disorders Unit of Sheppard Pratt at Ellicott City is an 18-bed, short-term stabilization unit for adults ranging in age from 18 to 65. On this unit, we focus on the rapid stabilization of individuals who are experiencing both addictive and psychiatric disorders simultaneously. The average length of stay is approximately five to 10 days in a safe and supportive environment. During the individual’s stay, the following therapies are provided by well-trained and highly-skilled professionals, including Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Recreational Therapists, Nurses, and a Chemical Dependency Counselor:

  • Specialized daily therapeutic groups 
  • Chemical dependency awareness 
  • Discharge planning 
  • Medication education and management
