The Adult Day Hospital at Ellicott City provides a patient-centered treatment environment for individuals with a psychiatric illness and/or an addictive disorder, who have been admitted either from an inpatient unit or directly from the community. Patients admitted to the Adult Day Hospital receive intense therapy and treatment Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., and then return to their own homes at night.

The program uses an intensive multi-disciplinary approach to assist individuals in progressing toward self-reliance. Our patients collaborate with the treatment team to develop personal goals with a strong emphasis on the establishment of coping skills so that they may successfully remain in the community.

The Day Hospital consists of two treatment tracks, a general track and a co-occurring track, which specifically addresses addiction issues. We work with each patient to reduce their problematic symptoms through some of the following services and therapies:

  • Adjustment of psychotropic medication
  • Wellness education
  • Family psychoeducation and therapy
  • Assistance with daily functioning with a focus on relapse prevention
  • Discharge coordination to ensure successful re-entry to the community

“This program has been life saving and I would strongly recommend for those suffering from mental illness. Keep up the great work - I have learned so much and am a stronger person than when I came in.”
