Inpatient Hospitalization: Provides intense therapeutic
assessment, intervention and treatment for children, adolescents, adults and
older adults whose symptoms of mental illness are of a magnitude that meets
criteria for inpatient hospital admission.

Premiere Unit: A setting for patients seeking a privately
funded intensive psychotherapeutic milieu with stays of one to several months.

Residential Treatment Center / Respite: A longer term treatment
setting for children and/or adolescents requiring a structured therapeutic
setting.

Special Education Schools:
The Health System operates Level V special education and vocational education
programs geared to children and adolescents with emotional/behavioral
disabilities.

Partial Hospitalization: Also known as Day Hospitals, these
programs provide a structured, intensely therapeutic environment during the
day, with the patient returning home at night. Services for children,
adolescents, adults, and geriatrics are provided through 10 partial
hospitalization programs. These programs also offer specialty services.

Outpatient Counseling Centers and Community Mental Health Centers:
These centers are multi-disciplinary outpatient programs; most are licensed as
CMHCs. Centers are operated by the Health System and its affiliate
agencies.

Ancillary Services:
Self-contained programs which enhance the diagnosis and/or treatment of
patients of Sheppard Pratt Health System.

Contract Management Services: In partnership with general
hospitals in the Baltimore metropolitan area, Sheppard Pratt provides
psychiatric unit management, professional services and/or emergency room
psychiatric services

Rehabilitation Programs:
Community based, the Health System's rehabilitation programs provide the
support that persons with mental illnesses need to continue treatment and
improve the quality and productiveness of their lives in the community setting.
A wide range of services are offered through these affiliated programs in
various locations in Maryland including community housing, psychiatric and
vocational rehabilitation as well as social services.

Research Programs /IRB: Clinical trials of FDA-approved studies
are conducted in outpatient and inpatient settings, for a wide range of
diagnostic areas, and using a variety of therapeutic agents. Other research
studies are also conducted, as approved by the Institutional Review Board
(IRB).

Substance Abuse Education and Prevention Services: Programs
aimed at youth, schools, faith based organizations and businesses, designed to
prevent substance abuse.

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT): ECT is a procedure provided on
both inpatient and outpatient bases that may be considered for patients who
have not responded to medication, psychotherapy or other interventions for the
treatment of mood disorders or other behavioral conditions.
