The Forbush School at Hunt Valley, provides special education and related services for children ages five to 21 with autism, pervasive developmental disorder, developmental delays in one or more areas, severe behavioral problems, multiple learning problems and other related disorders.

The school, approved by the Maryland State Board of Education, serves upto 72 students and operates on a 12 month schedule. Components of the school program include discrete trial, direct instruction, play based instruction, motor skill development and sensory integration strategies, natural aided language stimulation, community based instruction, positive behavioral support and vocational programming. Individual education programs are developed to meet each child's specific needs. Parents are encouraged to participate fully in decisions regarding programming for their children, and staff & parents work together to develop home programs for students.
