Diagnosis:
Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder - Up to 1 and a half hours

Population:
  • Adult

    Inpatient and/or Outpatient

    Duration:
    Up to 1 and a half hours

    • Schizophrenia Screening Study
    We are currently enrolling persons for a study to determine the role of infectious agents in schizophrenia.  Eligible participants will be age 18-65 with a confirmed diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.  Participation involves up to one and a half hours to participate in an interview and provide a small blood sample.  Participants will be paid $30 upon completion and may be eligible for future clinical trials.  For more information or to find out if you are eligible, please call 410-938-4356.

    Psychosis - Up to 3 hours

    • A Study to Determine Antibodies to Infectious Agents and Eligibility for Future Clinical Trials in Recent Onset Psychosis
    We are currently enrolling persons for a study to determine the role of infectious agents with recent onset of psychosis. Eligible participants will be between the ages of 13 and 45 and have onset of psychotic symptoms within the past 2 years. Participation will involve up to three hours to complete an interview, psychological testing, and blood sample.     Diagnosis:
    Bipolar I or Bipolar II Disorder - Up to two hours

    • Bipolar Disorder Screening Study    We are currently enrolling persons for a study to determine the role of infectious agents in bipolar disorder.  Eligible participants will be age 18-65 with a confirmed diagnosis of bipolar disorder type 1 or type 2.  Participation involves up to two hours to participate in an interview and provide a small blood sample.  Participants will be paid $30 upon completion and may be eligible for future clinical trials.  For more information or to find out  if you are eligible, please call 410-938-4356.

    Diagnosis:
    No History of Psychiatric Diagnosis - Up to one and one half hours

    Population:
  • Adult

    Setting:
    Outpatient

    Duration:
    Up to one and one half hours
    		• The Association of Antibodies to Infectious Agents with Cognitive Functioning in Individuals Without a History of Psychiatric Disorder
    We are currently enrolling persons without a history of psychiatric illness to study the association of antibodies to infectious agents with thinking and learning abilities. We need a sample of volunteers without a current or past psychiatric disorder in order to interpret the results of our previous studies of persons with major mental illness. Eligible participants will be between the ages of 20-60, have no history of psychiatric illness, no history of IV drug use and no active substance use. Participation involves up to an hour and a half for small blood sample and an interview including tests that assess memory and other thinking and learning abilities and will be paid $30 upon completion of the study.
