Our Adult Day Hospital, located on our Towson campus, provides intense therapy and treatment to patients Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. This is a comprehensive treatment program for adults 18 and older who are experiencing anxiety-related symptoms, changes in mood, behaviors, thought processes, and/or the ability to function. Patients admitted to the Day Hospital are referred to either the Adult or Co-Occurring Disorders track. Those admitted to the Co-Occurring Disorders track have been diagnosed with a psychiatric illness which co-occurs with an addiction or chemical dependency diagnosis.

Services provided at the Adult Day Hospital include:

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and multi-disciplinary assessment
  • Medication management and education
  • Psychoeducation
  • Daily safety assessment
  • Daily group therapy
  • Individual, family, and/or couples therapy
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
  • Aftercare and discharge planning

After admission to the Day Hospital, each patient is assigned a treatment team, which includes a staff psychiatrist, social worker, and psychiatric nurse, as well as staff who specialize in addiction and substance abuse for those within our Co-Occurring Disorders track. The treatment team meets with the patient on a daily basis while in the program. Upon discharge from the Day Hospital, patients may receive intensive outpatient treatment, where they still receive therapy at the Day Hospital but on a part-time basis, to help the patient begin to transition to a lower level of care.
